Discussion Show 4: Hitchcock Blondes

Our listeners spoke and we listened. This week, Eric and Jim discuss the ever elusive Hitchcock Blonde ... including the incomparable Grace Kelly. Oh, yeah, we also discuss vicious chimpanzee attacks and Jim's habit of surfing Facebook while we record podcasts. So there is also that.

Week 28: Spellbound

Was 1945's Spellbound, Hitchcock's psychological thriller made in collaboration with legendary producer David O. Selznick, a true classic or a creative failure? Eric and Jim debate this controversial picture during this week's Year of Hitchcock podcast.

Interview: Norman Buckley

This week Eric and Jim sit down with Norman Buckley, an award-winning television director and editor best known for his work on hit shows like Gossip Girls, Chuck, The OC, and Melrose Place. He has also taught film at UCLA and writes a fantastic film blog at buckleybulletin.blogspot.com -- but most important of all, he's an insightful, articulate fan of Alfred Hitchcock, as you'll hear in this week's episode, the first of a series of interviews planned for the Year of Hitchcock podcast.

Week 27: Lifeboat (1944)

When not discussing Hitchcock's under appreciated gem, 1944's Lifeboat, Jim and Eric are singing television theme songs, barking in fake German, and talking to giraffes. Don't mind the hissy sound quality, folks, it clears up about six minutes into the show -- and you don't want to miss the pseudo German language featured in this episode. Next week begins a new batch of shows that will be more lively, informative, and entertaining than any shows to day. And these will have decent sound!

Week 26: Bon Voyage & Aventure Malgache

This week, Eric and Jim briefly touch on Bon Voyage & Aventure Malgache, Hitchcock's two little-known French propaganda films from World War II, before launching into a discussion of Hitchcock's theoretical views on modern violence, as well opinions that won't make Kevin Smith fans happy.

Discussion Show 3: Broadway and Listener Questions

It's a wild and woolly show this week as Eric and Jim first discuss The 39 Steps on Broadway, a comedic stage adaptation of Hitchcock's classic film, and then take some of the more absurd listener questions we've received. Boxers or briefs?

Week 24: Saboteur (1942)

A few days late because Eric is absent-minded, but the new episode is here ... Hitchcock's 1942 chase picture, Saboteur, falls short of being a true classic, but that doesn't mean it isn't full of spills, chills and thrills. Check out this week's podcast, in which Eric and Jim discuss this fine film, along with whatever else they stumble onto.

Week 23: Suspicion (1941)

Alfred Hitchcock's excellent "Suspicion" (1941) stars podcast favorite Joan Fontaine and Hollywood icon Cary Grant. It's also really good. In this episode, Jim and Eric discuss the film, along with giraffes and what they'd like to have for lunch. Also, sound quality takes a dramatic step up about 8 minutes into the show.

Week 22: Mr. & Mrs. Smith (1941)

Mr. & Mrs. Smith is widely considered a dud for a reason. Despite having its moments, it's just not very funny. This week, Eric and Jim discusses why, along with screwball comedies, their efforts to improve the sound quality of the show, and whatever else the conversation drifts into.

Discussion Show 2: The British Years

Eric and Jim pause before launching into the start of Hitchcock's Hollywood career in order to reflect on his British era. This episode was recorded with Google Voice, so please excuse the sound quality. We'll be back with great sounding episodes right away. In the meantime, listen and enjoy as we look back.
